After about a month of working with the students, some of them began coming to small groups that were our suggestions of skills they wanted to learn. What does SEL stand for?

SEL stands for Social Emotional Learning. SEL Plus’ curriculum is built on CASEL’s framework and best practices, although we are able to integrate most curriculums into our system to provide individulized support to mentors. 

No! We also work with orginizations and non-profits that have existing mentoring programs supporting youth in their communities. This can be in-school, after school, or any type of support. 

Wrap-around support in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) refers to a coordinated, holistic approach that addresses the full range of a young person’s needs, not just academics. Instead of treating challenges in isolation, wrap-around support connects students to a network of caring adults and services that collectively support their well-being, development, and success.

Doesn't this weaken the human aspect of mentoring?

No! We don’t replace the human-to-human connection. Instead we are a tool in the mentor’s pocket to help them build an authentic and relevant relationship with their mentee(s) more quickly and equip them to provide a high level of support.
